CARTA Sport — LED Error Codes

Updated May 15, 2025 4 min read

Your CARTA SPORT uses LED flash sequences to communicate errors. Three distinct patterns correspond to three types of issues. Here's the complete reference.

Flash pattern overview

  • Red + White flashes = Overheat protection (device too hot)
  • Red + Yellow flashes = Short circuit (atomizer resistance too low)
  • Red + Purple flashes = Open circuit (no atomizer contact / burned out coil)

Red + white flashing: Overheat

Red and white alternating flashes mean the CARTA SPORT's thermal protection has triggered. Surface temperature exceeded the safe operating limit.

  1. 1
    Power off immediately

Press the V button five times. Do not attempt to restart while the device is still warm.

  2. 2
    Cool down

Place on a flat, hard surface. Let cool for 5–10 minutes at room temperature.

  3. 3
    Power on and test

After cooling, press V button × 5. Normal operation should resume.

  4. 4
Lower temperature or reduce session frequency

If this recurs, use lower temperature settings in the V Browser app or allow more cool-down time between sessions.

Red + yellow flashing: Short circuit

Red and yellow alternating flashes indicate a short circuit. The device measured the atomizer's electrical resistance and found it too low.

  1. 1
Power off and remove the glass attachment

Press V button × 5. Lift the glass attachment off the CONNECT.

  2. 2
    Remove and inspect the atomizer

Unscrew the atomizer counterclockwise. Look for flooding, excess concentrate, or visible coil damage.

  3. 3
    Dry if needed

If the cup is flooded, place the atomizer upside down on a paper towel for 10 minutes.

  4. 4
    Clean the atomizer port

Wipe with an isopropyl-dampened cotton swab. Dry completely.

  5. 5
    Reinstall and test

Screw atomizer back in clockwise. If the error persists, try a replacement atomizer.

Red + purple flashing: Open circuit

Red and purple alternating flashes mean the device found no electrical path through the atomizer. Either the coil has burned out or the atomizer isn't making contact with the base.

  1. 1
    Power off and remove atomizer

Press V button × 5. Remove the atomizer and inspect the bottom contact pin.

  2. 2
    Clean contacts

Clean the contact pin and device port with isopropyl alcohol on a cotton swab. Dry fully (60 seconds).

  3. 3
    Reseat firmly

Reinstall and screw in clockwise until snug. Power on and test.

  4. 4
    Replace if needed

If a properly seated, clean atomizer still shows this error, the coil is burned out. Replace the atomizer.
