CARTA OG — Troubleshooting

Updated Jun 1, 2024 2 min read

If your CARTA OG powers on normally but won't heat up, the issue is almost always atomizer-related. The CARTA OG is straightforward to troubleshoot — most heating issues can be resolved without tools.

Common causes

  • Atomizer not fully seated or screwed in too tightly (connectivity issues)
  • Dirty connection points — residue on the base pin or atomizer contacts
  • Burned-out atomizer coil
  • LED error code indicating a specific fault (check the error codes article)
  • Low battery — insufficient charge to fire

Troubleshooting steps

  1. 1
    Check the LEDs

When the CARTA OG is heating, the LEDs blink blue. Solid green means ready. If neither happens after a double-click, the device is not firing. Check for an error code flash sequence — see the Error Codes article.

  2. 2
    Adjust atomizer seating

A common cause of heating failure is the atomizer being screwed in too tightly. Try loosening the atomizer slightly — just a quarter turn — then retry. The wire from the atomizer must be in proper contact with the metallic base pin.

  3. 3
    Clean the connection points

Remove the atomizer. Use an isopropyl wipe or cotton swab with 90% isopropyl to clean the base connection pin and the atomizer contacts. Dry for 60 seconds before reattaching.

  4. 4
    Check battery level

Press the power button 4 times to check battery. If you see only 1 LED, charge the device fully before testing again.

  5. 5
    Try a different atomizer

If available, install a known-good Everlast or Intelli-Core atomizer. If the device heats normally, the original atomizer coil has burned out and needs replacement.

    Submit a support request

If the device still won't heat after these steps, submit a request at portal.focusv.com. Include what steps you've already tried.
