AERIS — LED Error Codes

Updated May 15, 2025 4 min read

Your AERIS communicates errors through colored LED flash sequences. When an error occurs, the device pauses, flashes a specific color pattern, and waits for you to resolve the issue. Here's a complete reference for all three AERIS error codes.

Flash pattern overview

  • Red + White flashes = Overheat protection (device too hot)
  • Red + Yellow flashes = Short circuit (resistance too low)
  • Red + Purple flashes = Open circuit (resistance too high / no atomizer contact)

Red + white flashing: Overheat

Red and white alternating flashes mean the AERIS has triggered its thermal protection. The device surface temperature exceeded the safe operating threshold.

  1. 1
    Power off immediately

Press the V button five times to power off. Do not attempt to restart while still warm.

  2. 2
    Cool down at room temperature

Place the AERIS on a hard, flat surface and allow it to cool for 5–10 minutes. Do not use forced cooling (fan, refrigerator).

  3. 3
    Restart and test

Power back on (V button × 5) and run a session at a lower temperature. The error should not return.

  4. 4
    Adjust habits

Allow 2–3 minutes between back-to-back sessions. Avoid running the highest temperature setting for consecutive cycles.

Red + yellow flashing: Short circuit

Red and yellow alternating flashes indicate a short circuit — the atomizer's resistance is too low. Common causes: flooded atomizer cup, liquid in the port, or a damaged coil.

  1. 1
    Power off and remove atomizer

Press V button × 5 to power off. Unscrew the Intelli-Core atomizer counterclockwise.

  2. 2
    Inspect for flooding

Look inside the atomizer cup for excess liquid or concentrate pooling. If flooded, place upside down on a paper towel for 10 minutes.

  3. 3
    Clean the port

Wipe the atomizer port with an isopropyl-dampened cotton swab. Let dry 60 seconds.

  4. 4
    Reseat and test

Reinstall the atomizer. If the error continues, try a replacement atomizer.

Red + purple flashing: Open circuit

Red and purple alternating flashes mean an open circuit — no electrical path detected through the atomizer. The coil is either burned out or not making contact with the device.

  1. 1
    Power off and inspect atomizer

Press V button × 5 to power off. Remove the atomizer and inspect the bottom contact pin — it should be centered and slightly raised.

  2. 2
    Clean contacts

Clean the atomizer contact pin and device port with isopropyl alcohol on a cotton swab. Dry fully.

  3. 3
    Reseat firmly

Reinstall the atomizer and screw clockwise until snug. Power on and test.

  4. 4
    Replace if needed

If a clean, correctly seated atomizer still shows this error, the coil is burned out. Replace the Intelli-Core atomizer.
